Church of San Cristoforo
The church is a small Romanesque building with a single-nave and a gable roof, in the typical style of medieval religious buildings on the Valnerina.
Its historical importance is linked to the passage of St Francis of Assisi. On the right side of the Church there is a boulder, dominated by a statue of San Francesco, which is said to have been used during his sermons. The large amount of salvaged material, reused in the construction of the Church, suggests that it was built on the remains of Roman structures.
The Church was refurbished in the 18th century but heavily damaged by the bombing during World War II. At the end of the war, it was restored to its austere and simple Romanesque appearance. Many fragments of series of devotional frescoes, dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries are still visible on the walls inside the Church.
