Church of St Francis and former Convent, Arrone
The convent was located in a strategic position for those who, coming from Spoleto, wanted to reach the holy places of the Franciscan order (Poggio Bustone, la Foresta, Fonte Colombo and Greccio) and vice versa for those who, coming from the sacred Rieti valley, wanted to continue their journey to the valleys of Spoleto and Assisi. This was certainly one of the routes travelled by St. Francis to reach Sabina as an alternative to the route centred around Terni and Narni and the monastery was certainly one of the stops for those (friars and/or faithful) who, following the saint's 'footsteps', made pilgrimages to the holy places of the Franciscan order in the centuries that followed.
