Uprium - Hiperion
The work of Agapito Miniucchi, a sculptor originally from the province of Rieti (Rocca Sinibalda) and Umbrian by adoption, is self-taught, seeing as he is a medical doctor by profession.
Uprium (or Hyperion) is the name given to the sculpture dated 1981. Hyperion like Titan, the giant god who generated himself, an imagination of power, of solidity and all other prerogatives which befit a divinity
This defines Miniucchi' s work, solid but at the same time agile, made of a material that is the "soul" of Terni, a special steel (in this specific case corten) and an explicit message of two characteristic features of Terni: technology and industriousness.
Placed in the centre of a large roundabout, at the junction between two large roads leading to the built-up area of Terni, it gives travellers a business card of a modern, dynamic, industrious and technological city.
