Let's discover the 6 marked and signposted trails within the tourist and hiking area of the Marmore Falls...

Trail 1 - '"Ancient passage"

Starting point: you can take the path to either the lower belvedere or the upper belvedere
Length: 900 metres
Degree of difficulty: high
Time required: 40 minutes uphill, 25 minutes downhill
Height difference: 150 metres

This path connects the Lower Belvedere with the Upper Belvedere where the Specola, a tower located in a panoramic position above the first drop of the waterfall, is located. Along the way, you can admire natural caves and walk through a tunnel that leads to the Lovers' Balcony, just below the first drop of the Cascata.

Trail 2 - "The Nymph Loop"

Starting point: area of the environmental education centre, located within the hiking area in the Lower Belvedere
Length: 300 metres
Degree of difficulty: easy
Time required: 20 minutes (loop circuit)
Height difference: 40 metres

The itinerary leads to the heart of the waterfall. Through a system of stairs and wooden footbridges the visitor crosses a secondary channel of the Cascata, hidden among the rich vegetation. It is a small waterfall, to the side of the second drop.

Trail 3 - "The meeting of the waters”

Starting point: area of the environmental education centre, located within the hiking area in the Lower Belvedere
Length: 150 metres
Degree of difficulty: easy
Time required: 20 minutes
Height difference: 15 metres

This path leads the visitor through the lower part of the waterfall to the bed of the Nera river. In this area, due to the pressure with which the water rushes over the intermediate steps, an aerosol is formed which creates a special habitat that stimulates an abundant growth of plants, noticeable also for their size.

Trail 4 - "The Majesty”

Starting point: to reach the starting point, cross the “Valnerina” state road at the “Byron” entrance and reach the entrance called “Pennarossa”
Length: 500 metres
Degree of difficulty: medium
Time required: 20 minutes uphill
Height difference: 75 metres

On this route of only steps, one can admire the Marmore Falls from two vantage points located at different heights. From this section, the Falls can be observed from the front and if you like, you can go on to reach Parco Batteria, near the village of Collestatte.

Trail 5 - "The cliff and the man"

Starting point: at Campacci di Marmore (Upper Belvedere of the Waterfall), in the immediate vicinity of the ticket office
Length: 1000 metres
Degree of difficulty: easy
Time required: 30 minutes
Height difference: 0

The route runs flat for about one kilometre and looks like a public park, therefore very different to a mountain trail.
However, running on the edge of the Marmore cliff, it offers breathtaking views.

Trail 6 - "The wise holm oaks"

Starting point: the trail can be started either from the Lower Belvedere or the Upper Belvedere
Length: 1000 metres
Degree of difficulty: medium/high
Time required: 30 minutes
Height difference: 0

Trail 6 connects the Lower Belvedere with the Upper Belvedere and vice versa but is generally more difficult than trail 1, because of both its length and because of the uneven and sometimes steep ground.
It is recommended for hikers, equipped with hiking boots.
